The Guitarist

I am guessing, actually I am hoping that a few people will find their way here as a result of this photo being selected as a semi-finalist on Mike Johnston’s blog, The Online Photographer. Even though I didn’t make it to the final round to have my image sold in Mike’s sale, I was truly pleased just to have been selected as a semi-finalist in the competition, and to have this image viewed and discussed in that setting.

I took this image in September of 2008 while walking through the town of Volterra, Italy. This gentleman would sit and play in the piazza with the obligatory basket for appreciation, and a stack of CDs for sale. I took 11 shots as I stood and listened. 8 of the shots I focused on his guitar and hands. The images sat on my hard drive for over a year until I was sorting through my images one day, and I thought that this might make a nice B&W conversion. This is the result. Not much of a story I’m afraid.

This has been a popular image for me. I am offering this image as a 10×15 print on 13×19 Illford Gold Fibre Silk paper. The prints will be printed on my Epson 4900 printer. The price is $65 plus $10 for shipping. If you want a print click the button. If you don’t know anything about the contest or The Online Photographer click here.
